Hi I've had a red oil light come up on my ecoboost 1.0, there is a rattle to the car when I start it up and is idle but it goes when it's been on for a minute or so, the oil has been changed before the light came on so its not the oil being low. Could it be the oil pump that's stopped working or something

Hello Everyone, wonder if anybody can help me with this. My dad has bought himself a 2016 Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost, which is running well, apart from one thing. If driven for a very long time / or very quickly a smell of burning oil is noticed when you get out of the car.

It’s a coil-on-plug design and each coil is bolted to the valve cover with two bolts. 8mm socket I believe it was. Spark plugs need a 14mm 6-point socket. Packaging said 10-15 NM torque. I did 15 NM. Did it as part of a larger service, oil/filter, manual trans fluid (MC XT-11-QDC), brake/clutch flush (FVP DOT 4 synthetic).

On the 1.0 Ecoboost engine, Ford incorprate a ‘wet belt’ system, where the cambelt runs in engine oil and is sealed in the unit. If you use oil of the wrong grade or viscosity then the belt won’t be getting properly lubricated. If this happens, the engine will simply cut out, with disastrous consequences.
